Confucian thought is an important component of Chinese civilization. The study of Confucius and Confucianism is a key pathway to understanding the national character of the Chinese people and the historical origins of the spiritual world of the Chinese people today. Shandong, as the hometown of Confucius and the birthplace of Confucian culture, is renowned as the "hometown of Confucius and Mencius, and the state of rituals and etiquette."
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, organized by the China Center of International Cultural Exchange and Tourism Promotion (CETP), Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Qufu Normal University. The program centers on the inheritance and development of the essence of Confucian thought in contemporary China, and Confucian thought and the Global Civilization Initiative — examining the theoretical connotations and contemporary value of the four Global Initiatives (GDI, GSI, GCI, GGI). Participants will attend the International Confucius Cultural Festival held in Qufu, as well as the Confucius Memorial Ceremony.
